2021 Indie Games Week 21: Sayonara Wild Hearts

I replay Sayonara Wild Hearts somewhat regularly. It had been a while this time around and I hadn’t played it since 2020. It continues to be one of the most brilliant games I’ve ever played, I’m convinced it is an entirely new genre of media that is an album/game hybrid and that it is wholly unique. My hope is it inspires other album/games to be released because it’s one of my favorite games of all time and it’s a fantastic album.

If you haven’t played Sayonara Wild Hearts it’s only about an hour long, but I’ve replayed it about a dozen times. The nature of it also being a music album, and the natural rhythm and desire to dance from music that is so well translated into the beat of playing the game, makes me just continue to come back over and over. It is the most replayable game I’ve ever played. It’s an incredible experience, beautiful, fun, and always leaves me smiling. It’s a must play.
